“Art is too important not to share” - Romero Britto

With all that has happened this year, it is more important than ever to acknowledge and appreciate the role music and the arts play in bettering our lives. Music and art have defined who I am as a person my entire life and I can’t imagine my life without it. From starting the violin at the age of 4 to performing in show choir in elementary school to being president of the art club in middle school to performing at Symphony Hall several times during high school, the arts have shaped who I have become. The joy I get from sharing my creative talents with my students and clients and knowing I am making a difference in their lives is what keeps me going, especially during the current pandemic. I can’t imagine what my life would be like if all of a sudden I could no longer teach or perform. And I know I am not alone when it comes to the concern I have for the current climate for artists. With our creative endeavors being either put on hold or put online - we have no idea what the immediate or long term future holds for our careers. These uncertainties are very real for artists everywhere.

More than ever we need your support. Because art doesn’t flourish unless it is supported. And art doesn’t exist if budding artists are not taking lessons and practicing their own creativity throughout childhood. During these weird times, it has become even more important for everyone to support artists and for artists to support each other.

Over the years I have met and worked with so many amazing artists and creatives. Because of everything that has been going on I wanted to come up with a way to support this community of musicians, artists, performers, and teachers in a way that would shine the spotlight on the art they are currently sharing with the world and also build a virtual community of sorts. Even though we can’t physically be together at the moment, the internet has given artists a place to continue to share and collaborate -  Zoom dance parties, Zoom lessons, Facebook live streams, etc- so no matter where we are geographically we can participate in and support artists and musicians right from our own homes!

One of the biggest struggles a creative faces is reaching a wider audience. So I wanted to use my blogs to give the artists I know and love a platform to get noticed by new fans and students alike, and to share their voices. Even just following artists on social media makes a difference so make sure to Like them on Facebook and Follow on Instagram!

Each month I’ll introduce you to a new artist. These artists will be from all over the country and have many different offerings to share from new releases, lessons, and more! In my last blog post I wrote about how important music lessons can be for a child’s development and seeing as I only offer violin and viola lessons, this will be a great opportunity for you to be introduced to teachers who offer lessons for other instruments as well as other artistic opportunities for you and or your kids! My favorite part is I’ll be showing you artists who I know and have worked with personally, so you can be sure they’re professional, experienced, and all around great people!

If you haven’t already, make sure to subscribe to my mailing list below, so you don’t miss out on future posts or any of the Artist Spotlights! And make sure to share these amazing artists on your social media pages as their featured blogs become available!
